111 Street/Jamaica Av
Home<N.Y.C. Subway Stations<111 Street/Jamaica Av
111 Street has two side platforms that are windscreened and canopied for almost their entire lengths on what is a three track elevated line, becuase there's an extra track, used to lay-up trains in theory within the station. In theory the station could be bypassed on this middle track. The station has a single exit at the extreme western end of the platforms. Single staircases lead down to a the standard small station house beneath the tracks, where the turnstiles are and staircases lead to the eitherside of Jamaica Avenue and West 111 Street. There's an abadoned exit at the other end of the station to 113 Street, all street stairs have been removed but the station house there is still there nestled beneath the tracks. It has airconditioners popping out of the sides and has been converted to a non-public area. Photo from Google Maps Streetview.
