Gilroy Road (although the white lettering on the station’s black shelter just says Gilroy) is the northernmost point of the mainline of the Baltimore Light Rail being double-tracks. The line becomes single-tracked just north of the station (as the entire line was single-tracked with passing sidings when the line opened in the 1990s before lots of investment in double-tracking in the 2000s). The station though isn’t a suitable terminus for rush hour trains (when half of all trains terminate at Fairgrounds).

The station consists of two side platforms that begin at the grade-crossing of Beaver Dam Road and run north. The station is parallel to and runs along the eastern side of Gilroy Road. The platforms northern ends are just before a grade-crossing with two tracks for a driveway into the main plant for the McCormick & Company that distributes spices and seasonings worldwide (which is headquartered in Hunt Valley). Just north of the grade-crossing the two tracks switch onto one and become single traced. This means northbound trains will often have to pause at the station waiting for a southbound train to clear the single-tracked section.

Passenger amenities are a single 9 pane by 3 pane black bus shelter in the middle of the Northbound platform (for some reason) containing a bench on one side and Ticket Vending Machines on the opposite side. Luckily there are pedestrian grade-crossings at each end of the platform, and in the middle of the platform by the shelter since most passengers are boarding southbound trains at this station.
