Pavonia-Newport is a PATH station located in downtown Jersey City, connections can be made to the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail two blocks away. The station's platform layout is unusal, with an island platform that only WTC and Journal Square-bound trains stop at, and a side platfrom for 33rd Street and Hoboken-bound trains. The "E"s engraved in the top of cicular station columns stand for the stations former name Erie when it was located right under the terminal of the Erie and Lackawana Railroad.
