Yankee Stadium Station was built as a temperary station for service only during the New York City Transit Strike in December 2005. The temperary station was very simple with steps up to short plywood platforms that aligned with the doors of MU equipment, built in a small parking lot, near the overpass to additional parking and the Game-Day Ferry from Yankee Stadium. Also out of plywood a small shed was built with two improve ticket windows that sold special $4 STRIKE tickets, service was a shuttle to/from GCT only (stopping at 125th Street). Genral Service to the station and the park and ride lot only lasted for two days of the three day strike (it took Metro-North a day to make the station operational, and to put their special strike schedual with more service to the Bronx in service). The strike began on December 20, 2005, and ended on December 22. After the strike was ended it was announced that service to Yankee Stadium would continue to be provided to Yankee Stadium until 11:00AM, so I decided to take the last train out at 10:42A, which was an uneventful ride into Grand Central. The MNR staff at the station told me I was the only passenger that entire morning after they had hadled thousands the two days before.
