South Ferry
opened in 1910 is on large curve. Mechanical gap fillers extend
when the train enters. The curve means that only the first five
cars can open, being quite annoying to passengers. There is also
a abandoned inner platform that has an even bigger curve and was
used by a shuttle to Bowling Green. The station was closed for a year after
9-11-01. There are old name tablets and wall re-leafs
of a ship. I hope they will be moved into the new stations
Currently a new South Ferry station is in the design stage. The
station will be a normal two or tree track terminus slightly
farther north. There will also be a connection to the N,R,W at Whitehall Street. Click here for information about it from the MTA's
website!
