3 Avenue-138 Street is the first 6 stop in The Bronx. It has three tracks and two platforms. Just south of the station the <6> express track begins. The station itself is in poor repair and needs to be cleaned. A lot of the paint is chipped. The station has two exits one to 138 Street & Alexander Avenue that has a dim mezzanine and the token booth. The other at 3 Avenue-138 Street, on the south-east end of the platform has High Entrance/Exit gates. Some Bronx-bound 6 trains terminated here during Middays, until 1994 when all day Peak direction express service was introduced.
