4 (Jerome Avenue Line Platforms) are above the 2,5 platforms and have 3 tracks with two island platforms meaning that the middle track can open on either the uptown platform or the downtown. The middle track is used during peak direction rush hours by all 4 trains (they switch back onto the local after the station).

The 2 and 5 trains stop at the same two side platforms because the lines cross in the form of a + the curving connection the 5 uses coming from the 4 are easily visible from the platform and 5 trains make a lot of noise entering the station
