148 Street/Lenox Terminal is the northern terminus of the 3 train. The station is located at street the level at the bottom of a hillside, meaning the station seems like it is in a trench. The station platform is at the south of the 3 train's Lenox Yard, which is clearly visible through the fence. The station and yard inside looks like a parking garage with high ceilings and hanging lights because in recent years buildings have been built above the station on platforms. Just after leaving its terminal the 3 cures onto Lenox (the Harlem River can be scene briefly) and dips underground. The exit of the station is on the end of the revenue tracks and yard tracks, walking up a short stairway we enter a head house at the street level of Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd (7 Avenue), more doors lead outside onto the sidewalk. The station being at street level is possible because of the slopes in this area. The station is also much newer then the rest of the Lenox Line (including 145 Street) opening on 13 May, 1968 the rest of the Lenox Avenue line to 96 Street opened on 23 November, 1904.
