Port Imperial Ferry The station currently seems dead, their is very little traffic, a bridge across to to the ferry peir is still under construction, and walking through the parking lot wouldn't be a whole lot of fun, currently their isn't much here. Their is also a bus loop, this may help some ridership. The island platform is the simple fare at street level, but no level crossings since the line is running along a cliff. The station though is great for railfanning, one can walk up along the ROW a 100 yards and reach the Weehawken tunnel portal, this place also has a good S-curve.
Port Imperial has a dubios distinction for me, it had two opening opening days and I was their for both. It opened for service on weekends only on 29 October, 2005. I went up their that afternoon and was the only one on foot in the entire area it seemed, all I saw was one jogger who looked like she was checking out the station. The platform was also still underconstruction and one end was still closed, their were still a number of buldozers in the area working on the tunnel and station.
I then stopped their when it opened for full-time service on February 26, 2006. This time it really felt opened, but the station was still quite deserted and most of the passengers in the area were railfans checking out the tunnel portal.
