Encanto/62nd Street is the first stop on an extension opened on May 12, 1989. The station has the standard two side platforms that begin just beyond the grade crossing of 62 Street. The Gillespie-field bound platform is a narrow strip of pavement along Imperial Avenue. It has a concrete wall with murals painted on them and is at a slight level beneath Imperial Avenue, one exit is to the grade-crossing, and there is another to a crosswalk to 63 Street where it ends at Imperial Avenue. The Downtown-bound platform has the station's one canopy, a standard brown structure. It is along Akins Avenue and across this street from the station is a 158 space park & ride lot.
