Wilshire/Normandie is the one intermediate stop only on the Purple Line although the dots on the station platform are still just red and haven't been replaced when this designation began 2006. The station has the standard single island platform with black pillars and a single exit area towards the eastern end of the platform. Here two staircases and an elevator lead up to a mezzanine area. On a wall facing the edge of the mezzanine is the stations artwork, a mural, Festival of Masks Parade by Frank Romero. To exit the station turnstiles now (not when I visited in 2008) lead out to two escalators between a staircase in a plaza on the southside of Wilshire Blvd between Normandie and Ardmore Avenues in front of the Metroplex Wilshire. The elevator is seperate and just beyond the stair entrance.
