The historic Turlock Southern last saw service on April 30, 1971 on the eve of the creation of Amtrak by the San Joaquin Daylight. The city would have to wait until 1987 when a stop was opened in nearby Denair. The station has since been turned into the Wellington Pub and Restaurant. The depot was built in 1915 and is next to (a small parking lot inbetween) Central Park, just south of Main Street grade crossing. There is just one through track left through the station and a small sidewalk looking platform still exists before the fenced off line of a caboose and two boxcars that have been connected and modified for what I presume is an extension to accommodate the pub's kitchen. Just south of the station at the NW corner of Marshall (just beyond the grade crossing) and Golden State Blvd is the Turlock Greyhound Station that receives a total of 13 buses per day to either LA and points south or Sacramento/San Francisco. This is just like the former SP stations in Merced and Modesto (hosed next to the historic SP depots) the building is a bit of a metal shack with a staffed office and a hand-painted Turlock Ca sign.
