18 Avenue/West End Line

18 Avenue is a standard BMT West End Line elevated station. A block south of the station the train curves of New Utrecht Avenue onto 86 Street as it continues through Bensonhurst. The stop is a local stop with two side platforms for the three tracks including the middle track that is occasionally used for diversions although it has never seen regular revenue service. The stop has a single entrance at the middle of the platform where two staircases lead down from each platform to a station house beneath the tracks, here the turnstiles and waiting area are and staircases down to both the SE and NW corner of 85 Street (almost at the intersection of 18 Avenue) and one to the SW corner of 18 Avenue. All of these intersection are with New Utrecht Avenue. The platform is canopied in its mid section while simple low fences are at its extreme ends.
